We are proud to announce the first ever West Side Filmworks scholarship. Sponsored by Wholphin DVD magazine (part of the McSweeney's empire in San Francisco), this scholarship will reduce the cost of attending the summer documentary filmmaking workshop by $1000. To apply for the scholarship, in addition to our regular application, you must send in something that conveys your need to receive this generous gift. It could be a one-page essay. It could be a video. Elaborate paper-mache mobiles. Fine. Pictures of your family. Great. As long as it's sincere and inspiring we'll take it.

Wholphin is a new quarterly DVD magazine from McSweeney's, lovingly encoded with unique and ponderable films designed to make you feel the way we felt when we learned that dolphins and whales sometimes, you know, do it. About McSweeney's
McSweeney’s began in 1998 as a literary journal, edited by Dave Eggers, that published only works rejected by other magazines. But after the first issue, the journal began to publish pieces primarily written with McSweeney’s in mind.
